Organisation

IUHPE

The International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) is 70 years old and draws its strength from being a unique worldwide, independent and professional association of individuals and organisations committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people through education, community action and the development of healthy public policy.

The IUHPE has proven to be relevant and resilient after periods of major change in the world's external environment and within the field of health promotion. Health promotion aims to empower people to control their own health by gaining control over the underlying factors that influence health. As long as these factors - peace, shelter, food, income, a stable eco-system, sustainable resources, social justice and equity - remain unchallenged, the IUHPE's existence and activities are vital to accomplish its mission to promote global health and wellbeing, and to contribute to the achievement of equity in health between and within countries of the world. The vision of the IUHPE is a world where all people achieve optimum health and wellbeing.

Hosts

Health Promotion Chair of the
University of Girona

The Health Promotion Chair of the University of Girona promotes study, training and dissemination in health promotion through the organisation of activities, networking and scientific outreach on a national and international level. The Chair is a leading voice in health promotion and works in partnership with Dipsalut, the public health organisation of the Provincial Council (Diputació) of Girona.

Dipsalut

Dipsalut is the public health body of the Diputació de Girona that works to protect, maintain and promote the health and well-being of people and communities in the region. Dipsalut provides direct services, technical and financial support to Girona municipalities in matters of public health and social action, to help them exercise the powers conferred by law in these areas. To achieve this challenge, policies and actions are developed to ensure healthy environments and to reduce unfair and avoidable inequalities.
